Message from Founder and President

My vision in starting the Trufant Family Foundation in 2003 when I was drafted to play football with the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League was to give back to a community where I was born and raised bydirectly giving financial support to my foundation and my time to foundation events. I wanted to encourage, inspire, and make a lasting impact on youth by sharing my story and success. My family also wanted to work in the foundation and host community  events to raise money to support local programs for youth and develop our own programs to help underprivileged youth realize their dreams. Therefore the Trufant Family Foundation was born.  I believe when we all do what we can, do our part ( because we all can do something) we can help our youth succeed and make our community a better place to live in. I am so grateful to all those who have supported us over the years with their donation, time and efforts, thereby enabling the Foundation to increase its impact in the community and helping more children achieve their dreams  each year. We thank you for your support and donations and ask for your continued support to help make dreams come true for youth in our community.

Message to our Youth From Trufant Family Foundation Board

"You do not stand alone!"

Your dreams cannot be realized without the help of others- You do not stand alone.  Your help starts with your faith in God, your parents who brought you in this world, your family who helped raise and support you, your coaches, teachers, friends and people in your community. We encourage you to do your best in school, ask questions no matter who is listening, get help from your teachers, use your mentors and tutors and above all keep dreaming and dream big.

History

The Trufant Family Foundation has been making an impact in the community and inspiring youth and families since 2003.

With the support of the community and our dedicated group of volunteers we have been raising money to help make dreams come true for youth and raise awareness for local programs that support youth in need.

The Trufant Family Foundation was established in 2003 which was the same year that Marcus Trufant was selected as the 11th overall pick in the 2003 National Football League Draft. Marcus and his family had a desire to give back to the greater Tacoma and Seattle community who have supported him throughout his football career. Since its beginning, the foundation has steadily increased its yearly charitable contributions through funds raised at various community based events.

The Trufant Family Foundation's mission is to help make dreams come true for disadvantaged youth and their families by supporting community programs, such as; the Boys and Girls Clubs, Communities In Schools, Hearts for Kids, Sickle Cell Camp, Salvations Army and more. We focus our energies in three major areas to help improve the quality of life for youth, which include: College Scholarships, Youth Camp and Experience programs and Children's and Adult Health Programs.

Our vision is to be an example of service to others in our giving of time, resources, and ourselves, out of love for the betterment of children, adults, families and the community. We strive to make a difference in someone's life one person at a time and to share his or her success stories with others as a true example that all things are possible, and can be achieved, to those who believe

TRU GIVING REMARKS FROM THE TRUFANT FAMILY AND THE TRUFANT FAMILY OF FRIENDS:

  • Time:
Giving of our time by extending a hand to help others realize their own potential through volunteer service in our communities and schools. We volunteer because of a personal interest in the activity, the beneficiary, the feeling of being needed, and encourage and motivate others to volunteer.

  • Resources:
Giving of our resources monetarily and/or in-kind to individuals who have little or no access to other assistance.

  • Unforgettable:
Giving of ourselves. We challenge all who have had a door opened for them to not forget, but give back to their community by volunteering and serving others. When we all do our part, we help to make our community stronger and a better place to live in.
